Access Control is a basic concept of security that reduces the risk to an enterprise or organization. It is a security method that regulates who and what can display or use resources in an environment, or in other words a selective restriction of access to a particular place
For example, the process of securing an enterprise uses electronic access control systems that rely on user credentials, card readers, audits and reports to track employees’ access to restricted business sites such as data centers or private rooms, etc.
Some of these systems include transit control panels to restrict access to rooms, buildings and installations as well as alarm and closure capabilities to prevent unauthorized access.
Access control systems authenticate identity and authorize users and entities by assessing required login credentials that can include door opening cards, passwords, PINs, security codes or other authentication factors.
